Products / Buyer's guide
Short answer: choose a metal nameplate for parts that get handled, an electroformed nickel logo when you need ultra-thin, fine detail on a slim device, and a PET/PVC film logo for flat surfaces, printed color and large runs. The details below help you decide — written by the HSINHO engineering team in Dongguan, making nameplates and logos for OEM brands since 1998.
| Metal nameplate | Electroformed nickel logo | Film logo (PET / PVC) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build | Stamped, etched or die-cast from aluminum, stainless steel, brass or zinc alloy | Electroformed: nickel grown on a master | PET or PVC film, printed and laser cut |
| Thickness | Sheet or cast thickness, rigid | Ultra-thin, about 0.05–0.1 mm | Thin, flexible film |
| Detail | Clean edges, embossing, brushed grain | Very fine lines and raised relief | Multi-color graphics, effects such as holographic |
| Best surface | Flat or shaped parts that get handled | Slim devices, small logos, curved-edge housings | Flat or gently curved surfaces |
| Typical finishes | Brushed, polished, anodized, PVD, plated | Polished, matte, plated tones | Gloss, matte, printed color |
| Typical uses | Appliance badges, server and desktop nameplates | Premium electronics and camera logos | Panels, functional films, large-run labels |
Laser processing of stainless steel and PET holds tolerances of ±0.1 to ±0.05 mm. All three are made in-house together with die casting, CNC, stamping, PVD, sputtering, anodizing and printing.
